The duel begins. A figure in the top third of the painting wearing a yellow cowboy hat moves into position holding arms up to their opponent in the distance. However, when we look at where the armed figure is aiming, there appears to be no opponent. A fire lit within, hence the struck match and flame on the left hand side of the painting. Yet nothing to burn.
Two grey figures sit around a campfire in the bottom right corner surrounded by grassy scrub. One is holding an unlit match and the other empty handed. Showing how one is ready for battle, yet the other remains calm and unarmed despite the threat of tension. The two figures are separated by a shepherd’s staff - symbolising guidance is at hand. 
In the centre of it all is a large question mark - who is this figure really fighting? Why must it be settled this way?
