The darkened moon looms ominously in the top right hand corner of the painting. There is a bright side hiding, hence the streak of light on the moon, however what is dominating the moon is the dark. A representation of our inner darkness. Yet when we look further onto the painting, there is still plenty of bright yellow in contrast. Tall yellow plants have grown and are shining. A bright yellow figure wanders the fields on stable ground in the bottom left corner, seemingly small compared to the rest, but in fact it connects to the tallest plant in the field. Showing that what we initially perceive is not always the reality, and no matter how much we shrink ourselves, we still have the potential to be great. 
It shows that not all that is under shadow is dark. That even when on the dark side of the moon, our own internal light can still exist.
